Mackenzie Miles, CLV + JF Communications and Programs Director & 2021 Jameson Fellow, got married on Friday, September 4th in Ontario, Canada!
Our Compassionate Las Vegas founder, Gard Jameson, attended the 2026 Annual Restorative Practices Summit last Friday and shared a slide that stood out clearly. It captured the goal — and, if you watch the documentary, you’ll see that it is absolutely attainable. The solution is CLAP:
C — Connection that brings presence
Not only human connection, but connection with the earth.
L — Learning that facilitates growth
Through gardens and other meaningful, hands-on experiences.
A — Altruistic giving
Even when it may be inconvenient.
P — Play
The kind of play that creates connection.
We are especially proud of Jameson Fellows Stephania Saldana, Erin Walker, and Kristen Martinez, all members of the Restorative Nevada team who are deeply committed to advancing restorative justice in our community.
A huge thank-you to Kevin Curtis for a keynote that challenged us to think differently about connection, culture, and what it means to move beyond punitive discipline. We hope it offered new ideas—and perhaps a few new questions—to bring back to your school communities. A few resources from the Summit:

The conversations among representatives from different schools and education leaders were incredibly meaningful. Participants left not only inspired, but also thinking about how restorative practices could be applied within their own schools and systems.
Restorative practices gain traction when they connect with the realities schools are already navigating—school climate, student support, safety, discipline, relationships, and existing improvement systems. When that connection is made, people can begin to see a practical path from inspiration to implementation.
Whether you have been doing this work for years or are just beginning, we are so glad you chose to spend your time with us. This work is stronger when we do it together, and Restorative Nevada is here as a thought and working partner.

From September 15–30, Compassionate Las Vegas has been invited to experience Flyover Las Vegas at no cost while taking part in a first-of-its-kind scientific study exploring the intersection of immersive entertainment and wellness.
Availability is limited, with sessions offered at various times of the day and into the early evening from September 15–30. Additional time slots within those dates may be released based on demand.

Las Vegas—a city known for pushing the boundaries of entertainment—is a fitting place to explore this emerging space at a time when wellness is becoming increasingly important across many communities. Because sharing the full purpose of the study in advance could influence the experience and affect the findings, we can’t reveal much more just yet. However, select participating community groups may also be invited to a separate post-study conversation hosted by TEDxLasVegas later this year, where participantscan go behind the scenes of the research, hear more about the study design and questions explored, and hear from the founders and scientists behind this study.
Flyover—located on Las Vegas Boulevard, directly across from Park MGM—is an immersive “flying theater” experience in which guests sit in suspended motion seats before a massive spherical screen and feel as though they are flying through extraordinary natural landscapes, surrounded by sweeping imagery, sound, wind, mist, scent, and motion.
